An interesting article from the BeerSmith blog on hop oils and their properties.
A trend in modern brewing is the greater use of late steeped hop additions for many styles. These include steeped hop additions, whirlpool hops, use of a hop-back and even dry hopping. Surprisingly, most of these late additions are not done to increase bitterness, but instead to exploit hop oils which play a significant role in many beer styles.

A group of home brewers have gotten together and brewed several batches of beer over several weekends (an IPA, a Pale Ale and a Cascadian Dark Ale).  Each style was split up so the brewers could add their own yeasts and dry hops to make the beer unique in their own way while retaining the base recipe.
The beer will be given away for free on the day of the event: April 14th.  Brewers will be ...
