IPA or Grapefruit Juice?!?!
Just kegged my latest iteration of my Concrete Monkey IPA. I used the same basic recipe, but switched around the hops a bit. I ordered six different kinds of hops a few weeks ago, a pound of each (ya, maybe a little much
). I had never brewed with any of them so to experiment I added a few ounce of Chinook and Citra towards the end of the boil for flavour and aroma.
So, first impressions? It was still flat and warm as well as still a bit ‘green’ (only three weeks old), but the flavor and aroma were intensely fruity. Both were filled with copious amounts of grapefruit and mango. It almost tasted like juice!! It is also 64 IBUs, but the bitterness seemed almost non-existent due to the intense fruit flavours. I can’t wait for this to carbonate and age another week to see if it shines or not. I hope so as I have 50L of the stuff!! hahaha..
