Homebrew Korea Trivia!!

July 16th, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

How about a little beer trivia!?   As we all know, beer is a pretty amazing thing.  People have found beer recipes from over 6000 years ago.  The Egyptians used beer to cure over 100 ailments and paid the pyramid workers in beer.  By 3000BC they were even brewing atleast 6 types of beer!

My question to you is this…

Who invented the beer six pack and how did they settle on that number?

It’s probably a pretty easy question, but we’ll see.  If you know the answer (or think you know the answer) post a comment in reply to this post.  The first person to post the correct answers to both parts of the question will get a prize.

What prize you ask???  A case (ten bottles) of 1L flip top bottles courtesy of GoodBeer brewing supplies.  A prize worth 54,000won!!!

Special thanks goes out to GoodBeer.co.kr

* Contest limted to residents of S. Korea

Good question – this one actually involves some research and not just googling it.

Was it King Sejong perhaps? I have been told by many people that he invented everything that is good.

This is a hard one… I’m getting two different answers on the Internet as far as who created it. :(

After tons of searching.. I have to go with: It was invented by Illinois Tool (or maybe Pabst). And the reason why there are six is that it was decided this was the maximum number of beers a woman could (or would want to try to) carry home to her man. (remember back in the day, women did all the shopping)

We have a winner!! Pabst is the answer that I had found. And yes, after much researched they apparently decided on 6 as the maximum number a woman would carry home. I will contact you later to get some details.

    Cheers and congrats!!
