    hey all! i have some great news! i recently met a delightful young woman who is a meokolli master and she will come to the feb 18 meetup. i have been schooling her a little in beer brewing and she wants to open a class special for us. it would be 2x/week for 6 weeks to go through the whole process. the fee will be around 300,000 per person - she will provide all ingredients and the "classroom" (which she has to rent). so the fee includes her time, all materials and instruction, plus you keep what you make, of course, but also there will be a tour of a meokolli and nuruk factory. she has space for 6 to 16 people. i am in!!! :lol:

    Well, call me cheap but Jihyun told me there's a course from a professional makkeoli maker being offered in my neighborhood on weekends in March, for W20,000. Much as I'd love to tour a makkeoli factory (I'm curious about certain things) I think I'll start with that, and let the government subsidize my makkeoli-making lessons. (Or dong-dongju if I can talk 'em into it.) If anyone's curious, I can see if the course is being offered anywhere else. It's at one of those "Cultural Centers" set up at the local Homeplus... *shrug*
