So far I've only tasted this stuff after a day of drinking other beer so I can't make a proper judgement. It seems like a fairly dull IPA, not as good as craftworks and certainly not as good as the indica or anderson valley. But it is cheaper.
Where is it made? I can't really find any information about the brewery, does anyone know anything more?
7Brau is a new microbrewery in Korea that has recently gained approval from the government to distribute beer. It is in Gangwon-do and the brewers are a few young Korean guys that used to work at some of the brewpubs in Gangnam and COEX. I think the owner of the brewery used to be in the wine business, but I could be wrong about that.
I would agree with you that Craftwork's Moon Bear IPA is much better than 7Brau's.

I agree, it's more of an American Pale Ale, although I have been sick the past week so my senses aren't up to snuff. I liked it, what was the price point? I didn't see any price list.
The "stout" on the other had was crap, more of a brown porter if anything, but no roastiness at all. They both seemed overly carbonated and had fancy Hangul descriptions, so they know who their target audience is I guess. My girlfriend's friend got the Pilsner, which seemed pretty good as well.
Thanks for the info Rob, interesting that they got their beer distributed so much faster than Craftworks (who's beer is going to be distributed soon under Rob's supervision, or so I've heard!). Is their beer unpasteurized?
@kunkemonster, I haven't tried their other beers, on price I just meant that it is the cheapest commercial IPA/(pale ale) in korea (2500-5000 a glass IME).
@walton yeah exactly, it's a big step in the right direction.
I'd like to learn a lot more about them as a brewry.
7 Brau is the first new brewery able to distribute its beer in South Korea in 70 years. They offer a porter, pilsner, and pale ale. The beers are unpasteurized. If you go to Hollywood you can get the unfiltered pale ale, at all the other bars its filtered. I strongly recommend going for the unfiltered version, there really is no comparison. They don't use any adjuncts and import all their ingredients from Europe and the US.
I tried it at Hollywood, I didn't see any contact info for them. Might want to give Hollywood a call and try and get in touch with their distributor. But like Rowan was saying, might want to put Craftworks on as well.
Craftworks just got their license to distribute their beers. Dan Vroon is already super busy with requests for their beers too. I like the direction the beer world is starting to move in Korea.
I talked to Rob about bringing a crafworks beer to Daejeon. I already carry Mc nelly's extra Ale, Rock creek cider and Grasshopper on tap. And 30 or so foreign beers in the fridges. I carry most of the new US and Belgian mircrobrews. I would like to add a ipa-like beer on draft but due diligence first. As you know it is a business decision, involving 1000s of dollars. Moreover, Indica IPa is coming on tap during the summer and it is a damn fine brew.
i dont know the price of Indicas on tap. indica is the cheapest beer of the US microbrew lineup available here and hopefully will even be cheaper on tap. The Craftworks IPA should not be anything short of amazing, being more expensive than (the already not-so-cheap) BIG ROCK beers. If the quality is here, people with taste dont mind paying a little more for a lot more of pleasures.
As Garrett stated, my place is called "The Shisha House", going on 5years. It is a 50 seats cozy bar, aimed at the foreign and local crowds. Thanks to Garrett, we hosted 2 homebrew meetings. Daejeon has its fair share of homebrewers, me included.
