Anyone want some clear glass fliptop bottles?
  • I spotted a bag with about 10 clear glass 1 liter fliptop bottles by the side of the road this morning. Obviously they're no use for hoppy beers that you're going to store in the sun, but they'd be great if you make cider or some other hopless drink. Or you carefully keep them in the dark.

I'd have them myself if I wasn't leaving. Some of them have some murky liquid in but nothing cakes on, the rubber washers look like they've seen better days but they can easily be replaced. Anyone out there want to make use of them?

Those bottles may not actually be built to withstand carbonation pressures; I've heard different stories, and some can while others can't.

That said, I'd love them for still meads, for which I think they'd be perfect. Can I nab 'em when I'm there for your party?

  • Yup, I'll grab them on my way home from work assuming they're still there.
  • I picked up 7 that weren't too dirty, they look like they're about 700 ml and probably not built for carbonation. Looks like they once had something called 도도주 in them.
  • Yay! Thanks! I'll bleach the crap out of them before using... :)
