  • Is it done yet? Post up some pics of the finished prod...

I smashed my left arm up - me bones all fractured and shit I can't freakin lift a beer never mind a brewpot so i'm living my brewing life thru you guys.

    BEER VOYEUR
  • That sucks about your arm, guess brewing is out, but at least you can still drink with the right. I put up a photo in the "show us your beer" thread, but will put up a photo with my next recipe. Take care of that arm.
  • Quick questions: At what point in the brew process were you adding your DME? At the same time as the extract kit?
  • I added everything at the same time, but there is a "late addition method" (google it) where you only add about a pound of DME at the beginning of the hour long boil with your bittering hops, and then add the rest of the DME and LME as well as flavoring hops with about 15 minutes left in the boil. I haven't tried that yet, but I intend to when I make my next batch. If you do that, you may need less hops, but I have heard it just takes some experimenting to get it right. Also a footnote here, I would add 1.5kg of DME for this recipe to boost the ABV a bit.
  • Here's the Homebrew Korea 'Guide to Partial Mashing'.

  • How did your beer taste when it was all finished, sokoteacher? The more research I do, the more complicated my recipe gets. This looks like an easy one to start... Even if I do switch out the Bitter Extract for an IPA. How was the abv?
  • I thought the taste was good. The ABV was just shy of 4 I believe, that's why I recommended adding 1.5kg of DME, and I would definitely add additional hops to any recipe where you are adding extra DME to a hopped extract kit.
