Tap-A-Draft?
  • Not at all. I've heard they are prone for leakage. Plus, you have expensive (on the long term) cartridges to replace. A corny keg, regulator and c02 tank with all the fittings will cost you about the same and are built to last. Also, appropriate sized used fridge are plentiful and reasonably priced.

  • Someone has one here on the forums...they won it at the Brew Your Best Fest. Hopefully they have used it and can chime in with some comments/reviews.

  • Ohhhhhhh! Well winning one is a completely different beast!

  • Yeah, I got the Tap-A-Draft from last month's event, but I can't tell you too much so far. I just bottled a batch 2 nights ago, and I filled one and a half of the TAD bottles (Don't ask).

So far, i'm liking the idea, but i'll have a better impression for you in a week or so. Conceptually, it seems brilliant. Bottling was quick and cleaning out the 6L PETs is a lot easier than ~10 640ml bottles. I'm sure it's got nothing on just getting a kegerator setup, but for lack of space or money, i'd say it's probably a viable option.

i've been doing a fair amount of reading about it, and people have had mixed results. seems about half love it, and half had a couple bottles leak. Nobody really shit on it too bad. Apparently you can buy better caps for it. the ones that it came with have a cardboard/wax seal on them, which i could imagine might be prone to leaks. Depending on my experience with it, I'm already thinking of buying one when i get back to the states to trade brews with others more easily. Helps that they're only about $70 back in NA.

Looks like Coors is using a similar dispensing system.
